Along the Way

Three travelers, as disparate as it gets: an artist, a poet and a geologist recount their journeys on many continents and climes. From Africa to Eurasia to Greenland, Central and South America, Oceania and the American West, their traveling companions and the people and situations they encounter may raise your hackles, bring on a shudder or a laugh. Along the way you’ll experience interesting geographies, ethnologies and sometimes bizarre human behavior.

The Authors
Skip Wollenberg, James Maxwell, and Lydia Rand

What a wonderful book! Along the Way is along many ways-—the visual focus of the artist James Maxwell, the philosophical and spiritual questing of the poet Lydia Rand, the working earth stories of the geologist Skip Wollenberg-—such a profusion of ways packed into one great book as to leave the reader stunned. And ready to go!

“Travel is a journey into whatever I can’t explain,” Lydia says. Yes, and the mysterious ones they travel with and those they encounter, then bring to us. Great stories, great writing. Great Earth.
